Guides/Number & account

My number is registered with another platform, can I move it here?

Yes. An official Meta migration: the number and its badge come along, downtime is minutes. Old chat history and templates do not. 3 min read

A very common situation: your business WhatsApp number already runs on another platform, and you now want to move it to WACO. This is an official Meta migration. The number changes custodian rather than being registered again from scratch.

What comes with it, and what does not

The steps

  1. Make sure you hold the access to the Meta Business account that owns the number. Check at business.facebook.com under WhatsApp Manager. If the number sits inside a business account belonging to the old platform, ask them to release it. As the owner of the number, that is your right.
  2. Turn off two-step verification for that number, either from WhatsApp Manager or from the old platform settings. Meta refuses the migration while the two-step PIN is on. Turn it back on afterwards.
  3. In WACO, run Connect number and select the same number. Meta's official flow detects that it is already registered and offers a migration. Ownership is verified by an SMS or voice code to that number.
  4. Done. Messages start arriving here and the old platform stops receiving them automatically. The gap is a matter of minutes, though picking a quiet hour is sensible.
The official process is documented at Migrate an Existing WhatsApp Number to a Business Account, which is the reference we follow. General number reference: the official phone numbers docs.
We stay with you through a move like this until it is finished, at no charge. Email waco@idcloudhost.com, tell us which platform you are leaving, and we will book a session together: from switching off the two-step PIN to getting your first template approved again.

Is your number in use on the WhatsApp Business app on a phone rather than a CRM platform? That is a different case, see coexistence mode.
